SER In-Depth Pre-World Cup Boot Spotting!

SER want to share with you some of the most interesting boot spottings we have seen leading up to the World Cup!

Kaka:

There has been a lot of debate on the boots Kaka has been wearing as of late. Soccerbible guessed they are either Adipure III’s with an Adizero sole plate or Adizero’s that look like Adipure III’s. We at SER wanted to clear up this debate, with this picture clearly showing Kaka is wearing Adipure III’s just with an Adizero Sole Plate. However this sole plate is a little different to the Adizero sole plate, as the studs are round and not triangular.

Wayne Rooney:

Wayne Rooney is basically wearing a normal Total90 Laser III but with a carbon fiber sole plate in the Elite Colorway. As you can see from the picture, Wayne’s boots still have the external heel counter and stitched teijin synthetic leather.

Fernando Torres:

Along with a new haircut, Fernando Torres has been spotted back in training wearing Total90 Laser III’s very similar to Wayne Rooney’s, as they both feature the Elite Series’ carbon fiber sole plates and an external heel counter. Unlike Wayne Rooney (although impossible to tell from these pictures), Fernando Torres is most likely wearing a stitched leather upper as that is what he looks for most in a boot. However, the most unusual thing about his boots are his studs. They look like normal Toal90 Laser III firm ground studs but with a clear color, however we can not be 100% sure if this is the case. We can tell you though that they are not they typical Elite Series studs.

David Villa:

It was somewhat of a surprise when we spotted David Villa wearing leather Adizero’s in their match against the UAE. While promoting the boot on it’s release, he had a pair of synthetic leather ones on his feet or in his hands, not to mention all the previous F50′s he wore were synthetic leather uppers. However, he is not the only player opting for the leather Adizero version as almost every professional that is using them seems to prefer the leather edition.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally let go of his Mercurial Vapor Superfly II’s and is now wearing his new Mach Purple Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Elites with a hybrid stud configuration.

Carlos Tevez

We at SER were in for a huge surprise when we spotted Carlos Tevez switch out of his handy Nike Air Legend II’s and decide to pop on the CTR 360 Maestri Elites. If he was going to change into any other boot (which we thought he never would!), we would of definitely thought he would switch to the Tiempo Legend III Elite.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi was spotted wearing his signature Chameleon Purple Leather Adidas F50 Adizero’s in training. He’ll be hoping these boots will help him lead his nation to a World Cup this summer!

Tim Cahill and Lucas Neil:

Lucas Neil, like Carlos Tevez, has switched out of his Air Legend II’s for the World Cup. However, Lucas Neil made the transition to the more similar boot as you can see him wearing the Nike Tiempo Legend III Elites.

Behind him you can see Tim Cahill wearing the Sea of Yellow colorway for the Predator X for the first time. He was last seen wearing the white and yellow colorway when defeating New Zealand at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground).

Landon Donovan

Landon Donovan spotted wearing CTR 360 Maestri Elites. Surprisingly Landon Donavan chose to not to use his specially customized CTR’s with the Superfly II sole plate (picture below) and decided to wear the Market Spec CTR Elites with his name and American Flag.

Clint Dempsey

Clint Dempsey was spotted scoring the winning goal against Turkey wearing his Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly II Elites with (RED) laces.

  1. WIth kaka’s boots you haven’t got it right yet. It’s not an adizero soleplate, since as you noted the studs are conical.

Look at this boot and compare the studs to the one that Kaka is wearing.

See? Exactly the same. He is wearing adipure III with a soleplate tried out on the adinova II, similar to the soleplate on the copa mundials. No similarity to adizero whatsoever in baseplate or in stud shape or placement. He is probably using these because the training ground might be a little too hard for traxion studs….or maybe because it’s more comfortable…or maybe just because he feels like it.

    Cheers!

  2. I’ll have to totally agree with. The studs say it all really. The adizero sole plate is unique only because of its stud formation. Kuuku your spot on!

  3. Check out xavi’s boots. I think he has switched from powerswerves to black/yellow adipure IIIs. Just something I noticed in the Spain game against saudi Arabia.

  4. Hey Kuuku,

Thanks for checking out SER! That’s a great catch, and I’ll be sure to change that right away. We were having troubles whether or not the studs were Adizero studs, but you obviously solved the question! Thanks for that. And by the way, did you ever purchase the Nike CTR360 Maestri? I remember you said you were going to purchase them right away and was wondering if you ever did.

  5. For me Kakà’s boots are handmade. Seem different from adipure III at the instep. I agree with regard to the sole, similar to adinova.
