Nike Pro Therma Max SER Review
The Nike Pro Therma Max (Stay Warm) baselayer is a great addition to your wardrobe especially at this time of year were it is very chilly. Unlike most baselayers The Nike Pro Therma Max is especially made for cold whether as it contains Nike’s Therma Fit fabric on the inside of the garment. This Fabric is thick and is a fleece like material which really helps keep you warm on the pitch. The stretch panels at the side seams are used to help make it more flexible. Lets see how this product goes in our SER review.
Comfort/Fit:
Unlike most baselayers on the market, the Nike Pro Therma Max was not as tight fitting as you would expect. This is due to the much ticker material Nike has used to keep you warm. The thickness has its positives and negatives, first off the shirt never seems to stay in place, when you pull it down it always seems to rise back up. The sleeves are also a lot shorter then they should be and start to move up your arm while you are playing. Besides the problems with the fit, It is very comfortable. The Nike Therma Max material provides you with great comfort while you are playing as the fleece like material makes it feels like you are wearing a tight fitting sweater. For a very thick baselayer, I was surprised at how great the movability was. While examining the baselayer I realized why. It’s because Nike have specially positioned spandex material along arms and the sides of the baselayer which make it just as maneuverable as a normal baselayer.
Looks
I have to say that the Nike Pro Therma Max disappoints in this category. Compared to other baselayers it is not even close design wise. It does not have any graphic on it like most baselayers contain nowadays. It looks like Nike have decided not to concentrate on design and just to concentrate on performance, it is an undergarment anyway so no one will see it while you are playing.
Performance
The Nike Pro Therma Max does what it is meant to do and that is to keep you warm. It sure does a great job. On a very chilly day this baselayer is a fantastic piece of apparel to have with you whether it is for practice or for a game. It is not all good news though, as I encountered some problems with it. Occasionally while wearing the Nike Pro Therma Max baselayer for tough training sessions or matches I felt very hot and it started to feel unpleasant. Often times, I had to take it off because it was just too hot. I think that this baselayer is better for warming up in cold weather or days when it is very cold and you just have a light training session. The team at SER have not tested this out in temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius so the performance of the Nike Pro Therma Max may be better in more extreme cold weather conditions.
