Umbro Football Wardrobe SER Review

Umbro Football Wardrobe

Umbro have kept up the pressure on the larger soccer brands in the world, and have started 2010 with a flurry of apparel releases.

Our friends at Umbro have stayed true to their late theme, class and heritage, with the release of the Umbro Football Wardrobe. We had the opportunity to review their latest soccer cleat, the Umbro Speciali, and were taken aback by it. Thus, we naturally wanted ‘in’ on their classic apparel line. Just to offer some info on the line, here’s Umbro’s description of the Football Wardrobe.

“We’ve called this new range Football Wardrobe. Why? Well, because it’s a complete ‘wardrobe’ of beautiful football kit. Made for every player, every day, everywhere, Football Wardrobe includes everything from shorts to drill tops, shirts to socks, training jackets to hoodies. Tailored to our highest standards, it is robustly built to endure the best and worst that the game can throw at it. Available in a range of bold colors; ideal to mix and match, it’s all the kit you need to give you that bit of confidence and edge that every player wants.”

We received three vastly different outerwear products. A navy crew neck sweatshirt, a red ‘windbreaker’, and a blue training jacket.

Blue Training Jacket

The blue training jacket is a zip up which is very comfortable and stylish. When zipped up all the way, it forms a turtle-neck of some sorts. While this is a useful feature during training which offers warmth from the bitter wind, it’s not really idealistic for casual wear. This is the most ‘modern’ of the three, and the only one which isn’t 100% cotton. It’s 100% polyester body is also quite comfortable, and while not competing with the crew neck in terms of comfort, it is one of the more comfortable training jackets we’ve tried out.

Navy Crew Neck Sweater

The crew neck sweater was our favorite to test and believe it to be the ‘best’ of the three. It’s 100% cotton make-up offers supreme comfort and a smart fit. Not only does it work whilst training, it’s suitable for normal use. It was nice to strut around in a classic article of clothing for once, and feel comfortable wearing it. Umbro also took the opportunity to brand their logo on this piece of apparel, with a huge set of diamonds splashed across the whole of the chest.

Red Training Top

The last of the three products was the red ‘training top’. Despite it being a fine product to wear during practice, it is the only one we wouldn’t wear outside on the streets. It’s durable material protects you from the cold and the rain, so yes, it is idealistic for those winter trainings which we all dread (it would be perfect for England’s weather right now!), but it’s not exactly the top of our style lists either.

Conclusion

All in all, we’ve been pleasantly surprised once again by Umbro, and hopefully they’ll continue to keep up the good work. Not only did they create a good set of products in the Football Wardrobe, they’ve signaled once again that they mean to be legitimate players on the soccer equipment market. Tailored by Umbro in England is starting to mean something now! Stay tuned to SER as we will be bringing you more new news and reviews of Umbro 2010 line of products!
