Umbro Football Hero

It seems that Umbro have finally branched out from soccer (football)… to video gaming?!! See what our friends at Umbro are up to lately.

This video tells the story of Football Hero, an experiment to create a giant guitar game with a twist – it’s controlled by footballs. Standing three stories high, the game was built by a group of talented engineers and controlled by a team of gifted freestyle footballers (Paul Wood, Paul Klein, Darryl Stewart, Tom Pett, Lewis Foster and Harry Adcroft) who had to ping footballs accurately at the pressure sensors in time with the Kasabian track. After plenty of practice and a few failed efforts, the team nailed it on the seventeenth attempt, gaining a five star rating from the unforgiving game.

In the lead up, Sony had noticed some of the interesting things  Umbro had been doing with their sportswear range and asked them to kit out the footballers for the occasion. So you’ll notice the team are sporting the new Football Wardrobe range. Football Wardrobe will be available in retailers from November. Continue to tune into SER for more info on the Football Wardrobe and other Umbro products!

About the Author

Ben

Most kids grow up spending Saturday mornings watching cartoons. Ben however got up early to watch English Premier League games on a special channel he convinced his father to order for that purpose alone. Ben carries that passion with him today, both on and off the soccer field. Though American, he still understands the rest of the world when they use words like "futbol," "footy boots" and "football pitch." He currently resides in Hong Kong, traveling frequently to the USA, China and other countries in search of the most up to date soccer information available.
