Cristiano Ronaldo Re-Injured

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be fit in time for Real Madrid’s trip to AC Milan in the Champions League next week, the La Liga club said on Wednesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo, world footballer of the year, will not be using his Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly football boots in the Champions League tie against AC Milan next week because he has failed to recover from his ankle injury three weeks ago. Ronaldo’s absence will be a big blow to Real Madrid as before his injury they were unbeaten but since he has been missing the team has stuttered to three losses,a draw and only one victory and this is clearly not great form going into the tie.

Ronaldo who is the lead Nike contracted player in the Mercurial Vapor Superfly campaign was expected to be wearing the new colorway of the super lightweight boot, Orion Blue/Silver/Obsidian, but his prolonged injury has prevented him from doing so. He had been wearing the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly in Black/Vintage Yellow and was the cleat that he wore when injured on international duty on 10th October. Next week’s tie against Milan would have been his first public showing of the new color of the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly.

Olympique Marseille’s Souleymane Diawara caught Ronaldo’s ankle during his side’s 3-0 Champions League defeat at the Bernabeu on Sept. 30. Manuel Pellegrini’s side, who had won every match this season before Ronaldo’s injury, have since slumped to three defeats, a draw and only one victory in all competitions. It just goes to show how inspirational the Portuguese winger has been for them.

Although Ronaldo has been training with Real Madrid it has been confirmed on the clubs website that he is still not fully fit and will not be apart of the crucial Champions League clash next week.
