Who Was Upset in the Champions League?

The Champions League is renowned for the number of upsets and shattered dreams it creates. There are always big clubs you expect to win, when along comes a little Russian side with no fear, who topples their giant opponents. That is the number one reason I tune into almost every Champions League games. I love watching small clubs out hustle their skillful opponents, and score unexpected goals. Well, I was not disappointed at all with Matchday 1 of the Champions League, because there was one huge upset I had the opportunity to watch.

Roma vs Cluj-

This game was absolutely AWESOME!!! I’ve seen great upsets in my time, however this is definitely one of my favorites I’ve been graced to watch. If you did not view the game, I strongly encourage you to watch the replay of this match. When first getting ready to watch the game, with popcorn and a soda at hand, I heard the commentator announce the two teams, and when he said Cluj, I asked myself, “Who in the world is this team?” I did not know what country, let alone city they hailed from, so I debated whether to even watch the game. I obviously decided to stay, and am I glad I did. As you probably know, Roma is one of the best clubs in the world, but Cluj just hustled their guts out in the match, and I believe that was the deciding factor in the game. A skilled yet lazy (in comparison) team against the technically challenged but hard worker team. The final score was 2-1, and all the goals were beautiful, but I just enjoyed the excitement and anxiety the Bucharest side showed, when they scored and after the match had ended. It was a cracking game, which I cannot describe well enough to even attempt to, so turn the tube on and watch the game. Please. It’s the only right thing to do.

After watching the game, I’ll be looking to see if Cluj‘s fortunes will continue, and if they can go deep into the tournament.
