Good or Not? Adidas Euro 2008 Match Ball.

Adidas Euro 2008 Ball

Adidas Euro 2008 Championship Match Soccer Ball

This match ball that was used for this year’s 2008 European Championships, brought up an uproar of controversy, spearheaded by German goalkeeper, Jens Lehmann. He and many others claimed that the ball was to “modern” and too easily allowed harder and more knuckleballish shots to occur. The people also said the surface of the ball had a new feeling and threw off goalkeepers. I believe Adidas created an amazing ball with this Euro 2008 Soccer Ball, however, it is true that the ball allows an extra 7-10 yards on goal kicks, meaning the forwards’ shots are more powerful as Lehmann had stated. A unique, modern ball. Well done to Adidas.

Though American, he still understands the rest of the world when they use words like "futbol," "footy boots" and "football pitch." He currently resides in Hong Kong, traveling frequently to the USA, China and other countries in search of the most up to date soccer information available.

  1. The ball’s design is excellent. If only it looked cooler, a bit like Nike’s Total 90 Ascente.
